A PROBLEM IN A RELATIONSHIP BY JOYCE MEYER

I DON’T GET THAT, SO I DON’T KNOW. (laughing) I THINK I WORK OVERTIME BUT I’M NOT SURE. (laughing) SO LET’S JUST SAY THAT YOU CLOCK IN AT 8:00, YOU CLOCK OUT AT 5:00 AND YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO GET AN HOUR FOR LUNCH BUT YOU REALLY TAKE AN HOUR AND TEN MINUTES, AND THEN OF COURSE THERE’S ALL THE TALKING YOU DO ALL DAY, THE PERSONAL PHONE CALLS YOU MAKE, THE TIMES YOU PLAY ON THE INTERNET LOOKING UP STUFF. (Come on now!) (laughing) “BOY, I’M MAD THAT I HAVEN’T GOTTEN A PROMOTION! I JUST DON’T THINK THIS IS RIGHT AT ALL! I JUST GET OVERLOOKED ALL THE TIME AND I’M REALLY FED UP WITH THE WAY THEY TREAT ME HERE!” DON’T LIVE IN DECEPTION. IF THINGS AREN’T WORKING IN YOUR LIFE, THE FIRST PLACE YOU OUGHT TO LOOK…. (applause) NOT: YOU AND YOU AND YOU AND YOU, BUT… OKAY, GOD, FIRST OF ALL, LET’S DEAL WITH ME. NOW, MAYBE IT’S NOT YOU BUT DON’T ASSUME IT’S NOT.

EVERY TIME THERE’S A PROBLEM IN A RELATIONSHIP: WELL, IF YOU WOULD! AND IF YOU WOULD! ARE YOU A LOW-MAINTENANCE EMPLOYEE OR DOES IT TAKE A LOT TO KEEP YOU HAPPY, UP, AND RUNNING? (laughing) I TELL YOU, I REALLY HAVE A HARD TIME WITH…. I’LL SAY IT A DIFFERENT WAY: I LOVE LOW-MAINTENANCE PEOPLE. (laughing) I LOVE THOSE PEOPLE WHO ARE HAPPY, THEY’RE CONTENT. IF YOU HAVE TO TELL THEM NO ABOUT SOMETHING, THEY SAY: I UNDERSTAND. I UNDERSTAND THERE ARE 500 PEOPLE HERE AND IF YOU DO THAT FOR ME, YOU’LL HAVE TO DO IT FOR EVERYBODY ELSE. BUT YOU KNOW, THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO DON’T GET THAT. THEY JUST DON’T GET IT. THEY’RE ALWAYS ASKING FOR SOMETHING WEIRD AND BIZARRE AND OUTSIDE THE GUIDELINES AND THEY HAVE THIS IDEA THAT YOU OUGHT TO DO IT FOR THEM BECAUSE THEY’RE THEM. (laughing)

WELL, YOU KNOW, THE BIBLE SAYS YOU HAVE NOT BECAUSE YOU ASK NOT, SO I JUST THOUGHT I’D ASK. DON’T GO TAKING SCRIPTURE OUT OF CONTEXT! (laughing) THAT’S NOT WHAT THAT SCRIPTURE MEANS!  IT DOESN’T MEAN YOU GO PUT PRESSURE ON SOMEBODY ELSE AND GIVE THEM A PROBLEM. HOW ABOUT THIS ONE: DO YOU SOW DISCORD AT WORK? DO YOU GOSSIP? DO YOU SAY UNKIND THINGS ABOUT THE BOSS?  DO YOU SAY UNKIND THINGS ABOUT THE COMPANY? IS IT ALWAYS “THEY”? I HATE THAT! “THEY” NEED TO DO THIS AND “THEY” NEED TO DO THAT AND “THEY” AND “WE” AND “THEM” AND “WE” AND “THEY.”
